Our Early Learning School in Restelo provides a bilingual environment where children learn both Portuguese and English through language immersion. Each classroom is led by two educators: one who speaks only Portuguese and another who speaks only English. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, our young learners explore diverse subjects in both languages in different learning corners and through project and play-based activities. This approach builds a solid foundation of knowledge and skills to progress to and succeed in Junior School.

The Junior School programme integrates elements from the National Portuguese Primary Years Curriculum and the Cambridge Curriculum to offer the best bilingual learning experience. Some subjects are taught in both languages, while others are exclusively in English. This approach enables students to reach their full personal and academic potential in their subsequent school years. By the end of Junior School, our learners have acquired bilingual proficiency in comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing, preparing them to excel in the international curriculum offered at our Alfragide campus starting in Grade 5.

As the Head of School, I am thrilled to share more information about our unique school in Restelo and our remarkable bilingual programme. We believe that education is an enriching journey, and we are dedicated to providing a unique educational experience for all the children who are part of our community, from the 1-year-old classrooms to Grade 4.

It is rewarding to see how our bilingual programme has nurtured the growth and learning of children from Early Learning to the end of Junior School. Our main goal is to encourage the development of language skills in both Portuguese and English from early childhood, promoting a truly multicultural immersion in the school environment.

Our children are exposed to a rich learning environment across the different school spaces, where their experiences are key. Project work, frequent challenges in the nearby forest, a bilingual environment, positive discipline, technology integration, and individualised learning are some of the unique opportunities that make our school in Restelo a truly special place for children to thrive, achieve the best results, and be happy.

Restelo students can move to the Alfragide Campus in Grade 5 to continue their PaRK IS education, having priority over external students.
